Blessings in a Backpack
Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.
What is Blessings in a Backpack?
The Blessings in a Backpack SWFL program steps-up by feeding children on the weekend. When school is in session, every Friday afternoon, children receive backpacks filled with kid-friendly, ready-to-eat items. Students return every Monday morning with an empty backpack, a full stomach, and an eager mind.
Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization that’s still feeding kids, event while schools are closed due to COVID-19.
Every Friday now till mid June 2020, Blessings in a Backpack SWFL will be distributing at two First Florida Integrity Bank locations, from noon till 4:00 p.m. Weekend prepackaged children’s meals will be available at the Kraft Road location and 5th Ave south locations.
What areas does Blessings in a Backpack SWFL cover?
While Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization, Blessings in a Backpack SWFL works locally with schools in Lee and Collier County. Test scores, reading skills, positive behavior, general health, and attendance have improved dramatically as a result of children getting the nourishment they need.
How can I help?
Only $4 provides a weekend’s meals for a hungry child. With COVID-19, there is an unprecedented need for these children throughout the week as well as their families. An easy way to help is to consider creating a fundraiser on Facebook and inviting your friends to consider a donation.
